Next Generation Virtual Tours - Immersive Virtual Reality Photography

Spherical Images does not rely on the cheaper ‘one-shot’ or ‘ipix’ solutions, rather we use professional digital SLR cameras and precision wide angle lenses to produce a very high quality and completely Spherical image. Each of our images and virtual tours is produced by experienced professionals, thereby always delivering the superior product our customers expect.

The images are taken using a tailor-made tripod head which allows the professional SLR and wide-angle lens to rotate around the so-called ‘nodal’ point. Photos are then taken in 8 different directions (6 around one up and one down) each direction contains 3 images to allow for High Dynamic Range (HDR) - this is a total of 24 images! Compare this to the two used by ipix photographers and you can start to see where the difference comes from. These photos are then stitched together to form a seamless sphere which displays the room or view in its entirety.

All of our tours are displayed in Flash, there are a number of advantages to this: The tours are highly interactive and customisable allowing the customer to be creative in how they want the design of the tour to turn out. Flash is highly compatible with all systems and browsers meaning the tours will be available to the largest possible audience. See some examples here in the gallery

We can alternatively just supply you with the panoramic images and you can incorporate these as you wish.  If you choose this option we can give your web designers or hosts detailed instructions on how to proceed.

The Steps we Take:

1.

Introductory discussion or meeting to discuss client requirements and scale of project

2. A tailored brief is sent to the client containing tour details

3. A specialist photographer(s) will visit site and take images

4. Post-production involving:
a. Image optimisation
b. HDR
c. Image stitching and blending
e. Production of a 360o by 180o Spherical Image used to build the Flash Virtual Tour

5. Tours may be tailored to include various components including:
a. Thumbnails
b. Floor plans
c. Hot spots (linking photos in tours) etc.

6. The finished product is sent to client/client’s web designers to upload onto their site, alternatively Spherical Images offers a hosting service

Spherical Images also offers a full range of standard photography services. Our photographers have completed commercial jobs for clients such as Channel 4, Merlin Entertainments, Hobbs and many more.

Our photographers have experience in shooting corporate events, architectural and interior shots, marketing shots, portraits, product shots and many other different styles. Give us a call or email us for quotes on our services.

Object Rotations

Object rotations allow the viewer to observe a given object (be it a statue, pair of trainers, antique clock etc.) from any angle. This gives the most realistic experience of a product or object without actually touching it. It also allows the client to differentiate themselves from the competition with a visually stunning moving object. The other and no less important advantage presented by Object Rotations is that they are also interactive. Mouse movements allow the viewer to manipulate the objects looking at them from an angle of their choice.

Objects are photographed on a specially made turntable at 10 degree intervals, using professional studio lighting equipment and techniques. We use ‘Chromakey’ paints on the turntable and background to allow us to isolate the object. Once the photos are taken each one is individually edited and quality controlled before a background of the customers choice is added behind the object. We can use the same techniques to animate objects, so for example mechanical instruments can be shown with their moving parts animated.

We give two main file types to our customers; Flash for fast loading and highest compatibility and Quicktime for the highest quality and the ability to zoom and look around the object. See Object Rotations Gallery for some examples.
